Dr. Kelley is a historian of New World slavery and the transatlantic slave trade. His most recent book, American Slavers: Merchants, Mariners, and the Transatlantic Commerce in Captives, 1644-1865 (Yale University Press, 2023), examines American involvement in the transatlantic slave trade over two centuries.
